A Short History Lesson about Kilconquhar Castle Estate |
A
LITTLE HISTORY |
| Pronounced "Kinneuchar", Kilconquhar Castle Estate and Country Club, is spectacularly located in the ancient Kingdom of Fife, just a couple of miles from the village of Elie, and represents (we think) the most idyllic resort imaginable. |

King
James
V1 described Fife as
the "beggars mantle with a fringe of gold". |
| The castle itself dates back to the 13th century and was the ancestral home of Adam of Kilconquhar, Earl of Carrick (father of Robert the Bruce), who spent much of his life in residence here. |

It later became the property of the Earls of Dunbar and March, and in 1528 was sold to the Bellenden family where it started life as a 16th century tower house. The building is now more a mansion than a Castle, with sports facilities and beautifully manicured gardens. |
| The
estate is set
within 130 acres of mature woodland and immaculately maintained formal gardens. The fabulous Fleur de Lys garden, the topiary lawns, policy fields and indeed woodlands are maintained to ensure their natural beauty. |
